Trout fishing day trips are perfect for novice and advanced anglers with limited time to fish. Day trips are also a way to length your fishing itinerary at minimal costs.
Day trips can be arranged while based out of San Martin or Bariloche. Our bilingual trout fishing guides will take you to dense temperate rain forests with secluded lakes and emerald rivers or to the Patagonia steppe where pristine, trophy trout rivers refresh the dry lands. We have 20 plus years’ experience in Patagonia and throughout Argentina with a strong network of talented individuals to make every day on the water one to remember.
Bariloche and San Martin are small, picturesque towns in north western Patagonia that closely resemble Lake Tahoe, CA and other ski resort towns. Both towns lie on the shores of lakes of emerald waters surrounded by the snowcapped Andes and in relatively lose proximity to trophy trout fishing rivers. These are sophisticated mountain towns, where the Swiss and German influences are apparent in the wood and stone architecture. You’ll fine elegant shops and fine restaurants and a variety of hotels to suit every budget.
Anglers will access rivers and lakes that live up Patagonia’s reputation of world class trout fishing. The pristine waters pouring off the majestic Andes hold powerful and beautifully colored Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout. There is nothing like floating along lake shores casting big dry flies to cruising Rainbow Trout. And the trophy Brown Trout and prolific Caddis hatches of the rivers will be forever etched in your memory as a spectacular fly fishing experience that is sweetened by the realization that you have not seen another boat all day.
Our trout fishing guides will pick you up at our recommended hotel and drive you the waters with the best fishing conditions. Our guides are bilingual patient instructors with years of experience. Bariloche and San Martin fly fishing day trips consists of a long morning and afternoon fishing from drift boats and a mid-day riverside lunch complete with barbequed meats, salads, deserts and Argentine wines.
Rivers and Lakes
From your hotel in Bariloche or San Martin, a guide will pick you up in the morning and drive you 10-55 mins to local public lakes and/or rivers. In Bariloche, anglers will fish famous waters such as the Manso or Limay Rivers. If you are fishing out of San Martin, you’ll access the world renowned Chimehuín and Collon Cura Rivers. In some cases, you’ll be fishing lakes or rivers with private access. In all cases, your guide will know which waters are fishing the best and give you their recommendations before you depart for the day.
Your Patagonia fly fishing day trip can be a single day’s float or you can experience a full variety of trout waters with multiple days on different sections and different rivers.

I would like to thank yourself, Maluly and especially our guide, Martin, for the amazing 2 days spent on the Limay in December. It was indeed an experience of a lifetime!
Thanks again for helping us set up the fishing trip! It was a blast, and it even helped transfer the fly fishing addiction to a few new members of my family!
Spectacular water, sunny weather, and good fish! Alex was superb, the best guide ever! A great teacher and perfect host! The lunches were amazing (and he even gave me his hat). We had a great time on the Rio Limay. Alex was more than just a great guide to put us on to fish, but an amazing coach and host.
