Estancia Tres Lagos is a remote family ranch within both the Lanin and Naheul Haupi National Parks. The lodge is nestled on the shores of the Filo Hua Hum Lake and surrounded by breathtaking views of the snowcapped Andes. Anglers will access 13.5 miles of the gin clear Filo Hua Hum River, a classic Patagonia dry fly fishing river where sight fishing opportunities abound for beautiful 17-19 inch Brown Trout. The additional opportunities on the Filo Hua Hum Lake, Nuevo Lake and Nieto Creek make Tres Lagos a dynamic fishery with aggressive to highly selective trout. Tres Lagos Lodge offers a remarkable experience for those who like to wade New Zealand-like waters by day and enjoy lake views, rustic elegance and 5 star cuisine by night.
Combine Estancia Tres Lagos Lodge with a Caleufu River Wilderness Fishing Expedition and get an unsurpassed Patagonia fishing experience!
Estancia Tres Lagos is an historic family ranch set privately in the Andes Mountains within two national parks. Since they purchased the 20,000 hectares property in 1928, the Beschet family continues to work and live at Tres Lagos, overseeing cattle and sheep operations and personally welcoming visitors with warm hospitality.
There are two charming guest cabins each with two double rooms and private full baths. Inside the main lodge is a cozy living and dining room where guests enjoy a full bar and exquisite farm to table cuisine with fine wines. The main lodge has been and remains the Beschet’s primary residence where they warmly welcome guests everyday with a genuine philosophy of “Mi casa es su casa.”
The Filo Hua Hum River and its associated waters are a Patagonia dry fly fishing oasis that look and fish like New Zealand’s trout waters. Anglers concentrate mostly on the intimate Filo Hua Hum River, wading with a 5 weight rod and sight fishing for 17-20 inch Brown Trout with dry flies. The crystal clear and shallow waters of the “Filo” will challenge skilled anglers and reward those who are persistent. Delicate spring creek waters that demand a hunting mind set can be found on parts of the Filo and on its tributary, Arroyo Quieto.
The Filo Hua Hum Lake and Nuevo Lake provide a break from wading and easier fishing with both Browns and Rainbows feeding aggressively along the shores and reeds.
Filo Hua Hum River
Few Argentina rivers are as stunningly beautiful as the Filo Hua Hum. From Nuevo Lake to Filo Hua Hum Lake, its turquoise waters meander for 12 kilometers through Estancia Tres Lagos. Below the Filo Lake the river continues for another 10 kilometers before it unites with the Rio Meliquina and forms the Caleufu River. The Filo is primarily a Brown Trout fishery where they average a healthy 17 inches and are as strikingly beautiful as their picturesque environment.
Weekly packages are possible at Tres Lagos, yet we recommend customizing your itinerary to combine Tres Lagos with a 2-3 night float trip or 4-5 nights at another lodge.
