Tipiliuke Lodge was founded in 1909 and is the most sophisticated trout fishing lodge in northern Patagonia. Tipiliuke carefully manages their 9 miles of the Chimehuín River to ensure it continues to provide their guests with world-class trout fishing. Anglers will also enjoy fish the famous tributary, the Quilquihue as well as accessing more of the Chimehuín outside the ranch. Tipiliuke is our preferred trout fishing lodge for groups with nonanglers because of the superior service, luxurious accommodations and activities available on-site. For more than 25 years, Tipiliuke has catered to serious anglers looking to catch a trophy Brown Trout in the Chimehuín River and nonsporting guests seeking fine country living.
Tipiliuke Lodge offers the highest level of comfort and unsurpassed personalized attention, from beautifully presented meals to luxurious linens to warm hospitality.
Tipiliuke can accommodate a total of 18 guests in nine private double rooms, all well-appointed with ensuite bathrooms. The main lodge is designed for comfort and style but also for socializing around the bar and in the spacious living and dining rooms. Guests or families who prefer a more private experience can stay in a separate house close to the Chimehuín River. Wi-Fi is available in all facilities. The gardens are a big part of the Tipiliuke experience, with peaceful walks through the carefully planted botanical gardens and meals prepared from the lodge’s organically grown and raised vegetables, herbs and meats. Additional activities include visits to San Martin and Junín spa services golf, cooking classes and horseback riding and hiking on their 50,000 acre ranch.
Anglers at Tipiliuke can fish 17 miles of the Chimehuín River, 9 miles of which are wading only and flow within their private property, offering solitude and superior trout fishing. Additional fishing can be had in Tipiliuke’s small 3 mile spring creek and ponds, or on the Quilquihue tributary. Each beat on the Chimehuin River is fished by only two anglers at a time and all beats are 5-15 mins from the lodge by truck.
Chimehuín River runs from Huechulafquen Lake, through Junín de los Andes and empties into the Collón Curá River. Its crystal-clear waters are lined with willows, tall grasses and rocky ledges and cut through some of Patagonia’s most beautiful scenery. Anglers stalk 15- to 20-inch Rainbow and Brown Trout on foot using a variety of techniques.
There is little reason to leave the wade-only, blue ribbon private trout waters within the Tipiliuke property however, drift boat float trips are always an option on portions of the Chimehuín and Collon Cura Rivers.
Chimehuín River
The Chime is one of the many famed fly fishing rivers in Argentina and is considered the first river that gave northern Patagonia its renowned trout fishing reputation. Years before Joe Brooks’ arrival, legendary Argentine angler Bebe was pulling huge trout from the Chimehuín. It has produced the largest landlocked Brown Trout in all of Patagonia. During the fall spawning run, anglers gather at the boca of the Huechulafquen Lake, looking to hook into one of the prized Brown Trout that migrate from the lake to the river.

I have done three trips with Justi and the FFP group. Great guides who take care of you from the moment you arrive through to departure. The float trip was great. GLAMPING at its best! Each time they have nailed it for us. I WILL use them again.
The fishing was fantastic! Heather and Healy and I had a fabulous time at Tipiliuke. The accommodations in the lodge were very comfortable, the food delicious, the fishing excellent, and the horseback riding was great fun. You did an excellent job and Tipiliuke is truly one of the special destinations of the world. I look forward to fishing with Fly Fishing Patagonia again.
