SEASON

Although visiting Mendoza is enjoyable all year long, perhaps the two best times to visit Mendoza are during the fall and spring. which is late October and November. March and April are the fall months and wineries are in full motion with the harvest. The temperatures are optimal with day highs around 80 and night lows around 65. Fall colors are just beginning to appear in the trees lining the streets. The spring months of October and November bring favorable temperatures and desert flowers are in full bloom. Visitors in the summer months of December-March enjoy various local festivals and perfect weather. The winter months of June-October offer superb skiing at Las Lenas Resort.

TRAVEL

Deposits: Deposits play a critical roll in securing your reservations. Due to high demand and limited availability, we recommended you make reservations as early as possible. A 50% deposit is required 10 days after reservations are made. Payment in full is required 60 days before arrival date. Deposits are non refundable unless another party can subsequently fill your space. At any time deposits can be applied to a future trip within the following 6 months.

Air Travel and Arrival: Traveling to Argentina and Chile is very safe and easier than flying to Europe because of similar time zones. From the east coast of the United States, daily direct flights to Buenos Aires leave from New York, DC, Atlanta and Miami and are roughly 9 hours and during the night. There are also direct flights to Santiago, Chile from Seattle and LA. In Buenos Aires, you will arrive at the international airport where our representative will meet you. They will assist you with making the required airport change and make sure you make your next flight to Mendoza. He or she can also help check you into your hotel in Buenos Aires or give you a personal tour of the city. In Santiago, Chile, you will catch your domestic flight at the same airport where your international flight arrived.

Fights into Mendoza usually originate from Buenos Aires, Argentina or Santiago, Chile and are about 90 minutes and 30 minutes respectively. Once you arrive at the Mendoza airport one of our representatives will pick you up and transfer you to your first lodge. The best vineyards are all located in the northern and central portions of the province within 2.5 hours drive from the city of Mendoza.

Travel Documents:
No immunizations or visas are required to visit Argentina or Chile; however, you are required to have a valid passport.

Heath Issues: There are no immunizations required for entry into Argentina. For the latest information on health and immunization requirements worldwide, you may visit the Center for Disease Control web-site at www.cdc.gov. Because you may be in remote locations, make sure you bring any required medications and basic first aid supplies. Although your guides will have epinephrine pins and are trained to use them, we advise carrying a personal epi pin if you are allergic to any kind of insect sting.

Currency: In Argentine you may use dollars or Argentine pesos. The Argentine peso is fluctuating around 2.83 to the dollar. Check a major newspaper for the status of the peso. All your personal purchases should be made in cash, either dollars or pesos. Currency exchange houses can be found in airports or in towns.
Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is always wise to purchase when traveling extensively. Fly Fishing Patagonia highly suggests that all visitors purchase travel insurance. Please note that although Argentina and Chile are safe countries and your hosts take every precaution necessary to ensure your well being, unexpected events do happen. Most people use travel insurance to cover travel upsets such as delayed or canceled flights, lost luggage and medical emergencies. All medications you might want or require should be brought with you. You can be further prepared by buying complete travel insurance that includes medical evacuations.
