SEA RUN BROWN: Argentina - Tierra del Fuego
Toon Ken Lodge
Established in 1997, Toon Ken Lodge is situated upstream of its sister lodge, Kau Tapen, and enjoys some of the most productive pools on the upper Rio Grander. The newly designed lodge opened its doors for the ‘04 season and has been re-located on a high river bluff on the north side of the river. Now Toon Ken Lodge guests have only a short car-ride (or walk) from the lodge to cast at the Sea Run Browns they saw rolling from the lodge windows the day before.
Toon Ken Lodge can only accommodate 6 rods per week making it ideal for a small group of friends or family who enjoy 5 star accommodations. Each of the 3 in suite rooms are beautifully decorated with natural wood and large windows. The lodge has a small tackle shop supplied with Sage rods and other quality gear. The Jacuzzi and sauna are a welcomed luxury after a long day on the river.
The living and dinning rooms and 7 in suite guest rooms all have wooden floors that create a warm atmosphere. From almost anywhere in the lodge anglers can gaze out a window for panoramic views of the Rio Grande and the desert plains.
The staff at Toon Ken is composed of its manager, local Argentina fishing guides, a professional chef and housekeeping personnel. All will guarantee you an unforgettable experience, offering their knowledge and genuine hospitality not only to meet but also to exceed your expectations.
Fishing at Toon Ken Lodge
Toon Ken fishes for Sea-run brown Trout on 12 pools across 4.3 mile of the Rio Grande. These fish average 12 lbs and run up to about 30 pounds. The lodge has private access to both river banks with easy wading on fine gravel bottom. All of Toon Ken’s guides are professional and focused on your success. They are able to give casting instructions with single and double handed rods and know how to approach each pool. They will be equipped with nets and scales and will assist in releasing all fish unharmed.
Like other Rio Grande fishing lodges The fishing schedule is broken up between the morning and evening sessions, lunch and siesta at the lodge in the middle of the day and dinner served around 11:30pm.
The season is Jan– April with peak time being mid February to late March.
The lodge fills up quickly so advance booking is recommended. Contact us for real-time availability.
