TROUT FISHING: Argentina - Bariloche

At Fly Fishing Patagonia, we create custom-tailored fishing packages that usually incorporate rivers and lodges in Bariloche, San Martin and Junin. Bariloche Lodge Combo

4 nights at the Rio Manso Lodge

Day 1
At the Buenos Aires International Airport, our representative will greet you with a private transfer to the domestic airport for your flight to Bariloche. We’ll pick you up and drive you 15 minutes to Estancia Fortin Chacabuco. You’ll fish the ranches private section of the Limay River until dark. This river produces more big trout than any other river in Patagonia.

Day 2
Full day on the all walk and wade Pichi Leufu River located 1 hour east of town. This small river offers super dry fly action.

Day 3
You’ll float all day through the private section of the Fortin Chacabuco Ranch. We’ll stop half way down at mid day for a riverside asado.

Day 4
In the early morning hours we’ll fish the Limay and then transfer 1 hour southwest to Rio Manso Lodge and float the Manso River.  This particular section offers strong trout of fantastic color and shape. At the take out, you’ll be minutes from the lodge where your luggage will be waiting in your room.

Day 5
Today we’ll fish a different section of the Manso and then take advantage of the evening hatches on Hess Lake located right in front of the lodge.

Day 6
Fish either Fonck Lake for big Brook Trout or Hess Lake for fat rainbows on dries.

Day 7
Walk and wade fish the lower section of the Manso River.

Day 8
Drive 45 minutes to the Bariloche Airport for departure flight home.

Wilderness Expedition and Lodge Combo

Day 1
At the Buenos Aires International Airport, our representative will greet you with a private transfer to the domestic airport for your flight to Bariloche.  We’ll pick you up and drive you 15 minutes to your Bariloche hotel.  After a rest we’ll give you a tour of Bariloche and gather for a group dinner at our favorite restaurant.

Day 2
At 9:00am we’ll pick you up and drive 2 hours to the Caleufu River to start our 3 night, 4 day wilderness fishing expedition. The first day the river is relatively fast with a few small rapids and gorgeous views. This is a great section for dry fly fishing.

Day 3-4
The second day the river slows but the fishing picks up. Be on the look out for Red Stag, Wild Boar, foxes and Condors, -if you can take you eyes off the water. Anglers should use dries and nymphs, but also streamers should be fished in the deeper pools and runs.

Day 5
On the last day, you’ll be fishing slow pools and banks for some big fish either on top or with streamers. At 5:00pm we’ll take off and transfer 3 hours to Rio Manso Lodge.

Day 6
Fish either Fonck Lake for big Brook Trout or Hess Lake for fat Rainbows on dries.

Day 7 Fish the Fonck or Hess Lakes.

Day 8
Fish the Manso River either by walk and wade or by floating.

Day 9
Drive 45 minutes to the Bariloche Airport for departure flight to Buenos Aires.

Bariloche – San Martin Lodge Combo

4 nights in Rio Manso Lodge – Bariloche
3 nights in Estancia Quemquemtreu –San Martin de los Andes
7 nights, 6 days fishing

Day 1
At the Buenos Aires International Airport, our representative will greet you with a private transfer to the domestic airport for your flight to Bariloche.  We’ll pick you up and drive you 45 minutes to the Rio Manso Lodge. After a quick tour and refreshment, we’ll fish the afternoon on Hess Lake located right in front of the lodge.

Day 2
Fish the emerald green Manso River for strong rainbows averaging 18 inches.

Day 3
Fish either Fonck Lake for big Brook Trout or Hess Lake for fat rainbows on dries.

Day 4
Fish a different section of the Manso River and end the day fishing the evening hatch on the channels of the Hess Lake.

Day 5
After an early check out and breakfast, we’ll travel towards Bariloche to fish the Limay River in hopes to land one of it’s magnificent trophy trout.  At days end, we’ll travel toward San Martin de los Andes and on to Estancia Quemquemtreu on the Collon Cura River.

Day 6
We’ll fish the Collon Cura River at the top end of the ranches property. The river provides numerous rainbows in browns in the 16-22 inch range, on dries or wet flies. We’ll have a hot lunch on the river and return to the ranch around 8:30pm.

Day 7
During the early season we’ll be fishing the dry fly friendly Quemquemtreu River that run through the ranches private property. This is a well protected lovely creek offering easy action for 10-16 inch rainbow with the occasional large brown.

Day 8
Fish the lower Collon Cura River down to where the Piedra del Aguila Reservoir starts. The lower portions of the river are flanked by private ranches and offer superior fishing.

Day 9
Transfer to the Bariloche or San Martin Airport for your flight home.
