It has impeccable accommodations, plenty of elbow room on the Río Grande, caring guides, select vehicles and equipment, as well as Argentina’s best wines and menus and enviable fishing records since 1984. Come and be a part of Kau Tapen’s history yourself.

The lodge chef prepares gourmet meals with Argentina’s famed beef, fine wines, traditional asados and delicious desserts. In case a guest forgot to bring some important piece of fishing equipment, the lodge has a in house fly shop that carries flies, rods, reels, lines, and suitable clothing.
Fishing at Kau Tapen Lodge
Every day your guides will drive you to and from the river in comfortable 4-wheel drive trucks fitted with rod racks and VHF radios. You’ll access 15 miles of both banks on the Rio Grande where easy wading can be had on fine gravel bottom. All of Kau Tapen’s guides are professional and focused on your success. They are able to give casting instructions with single and double handed rods and know how to approach each pool. They will be equipped with nets and scales and will assist in releasing all fish unharmed.
The fishing schedule is broken up between the morning and evening sessions, both lasting about 4.5 hours. Guests at Kau Tapen also have access to the Rio Menendez which runs along the eastern border of their property. The Rio Menendez is the only tributary on the Rio Grande where Sea Run Brown Trout can successfully spawn.
Kau Tapen offers a 5-star fishing and lodging experience that is unmatched in Tierra del Fuego. Remember to make your reservations far in advance.
