Fly Fishing Patagonia Guides -2007

Without a question, guides make or break a trip. Our professional guides are the finest in the area and consistently exceed the expectations of our international clientele. Not only are all certified, insured and licensed, but they are also carefully chosen and trained to meet our specific requirements. They are bilingual, multifaceted and with substantial experience on diverse waters. They must have a character of intrigue, patience, adaptability and enthusiasm. We guaranty our guides to be the best in the area.

"The guys in Patagonia were phenomenal! Every one of them was professional, experienced, confident and on top of their game all the time. The bonus is that they were a hell of a lot of fun too. They had a great sense of humor, were interested and interesting at the same time. It was like they were part of our group and it just doesn’t get any better. Hang on to those guys – and it’s worth it to say that you [Justi and Oscar] have done a terrific job to assemble a group like that."
- John Barret, Seattle WA.

Alejandro Plaza (Ale or Alex)- Trout

Alex is from Buenos Aires but has lived in Bariloche for 6 years. He has learned a great deal about Patagonia rivers and trout in that time and is a real pro at catching large fish on the Limay River.  Alejandro has turned out to be a valuable asset to Fly Fishing Patagonia. After 4 years of guiding he has exceptional guiding skills. Alejandro is bilingual, a musician, a computer wiz and also a skilled businessman.

Oscar Dono -Trout and Golden Dorado

Oscar is a cofounder and chief guide for Fly Fishing Patagonia. His organizational skills and level of professionalism assure our international guests they have made the right choice of outfitter in Patagonia.
Oscar grew up in Buenos Aires were he spent the weekends with his father fishing for Golden Dorado on the Corriente River. As a teenager, he traveled several times to fish in Patagonia. In the early 90’s he had a fishing shop in Buenos Aires but gave it up in 1993 to be a guide and live in Patagonia.
Oscar has worked in Italy , Mexico , British Columbia and fished from Venezuela to Colorado to New York to the Florida Keys . His ability to catch fish is uncanny and his guiding skills are simply unbeatable. His lightheartedness can make brighten the gloomiest fishing day with a laid back smile and a “No problem” attitude.

Nicolas Repossini (Nico) -Trout

We first met Nico in the early days of Fly Fishing Patagonia when we used to take our guests to the Hess Lodge. The Hess Lodge was what is today the Rio Manso Lodge. As teenager, Nico was the head guide for Hess Lodge. At that time he could not speak English, but he knew the waters of the Manso River and Fonck and Hess Lake like the back of his hand. He is a great addition to our team.

Julian Cabal -Trout

Julian started working with Fly Fishing Patagonia 2 years ago and already has clients raving about him and requesting me on their next visit. Julian studies fish farming while not guiding.

Francisco Britos (Pancho) - Trout

Pancho is the youngest member of our Fly Fishing Patagonia Guide staff but comes to us well seasoned from the teachings of his father, who guided anglers for over 14 years.

At a young age, Pancho traveled to all corners of Northern Patagonia fishing famous and hidden waters with his father. In his mid teens, he passed the rigorous exam to be a licensed, fly fishing guide in Patagonia.

Today Pancho is finishing up his 3 year as an economics major and continues to take English language classes at a university in Bariloche. Between his studies and guiding, Pancho also finds to time enjoy his 2 year old son, Tomas, who will no doubt follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

Pancho’s favorite rivers are the Limay in April and Caleufu in January.
