Rods
Two medium-fast action fly rods, 8 weights, 9 ft.

Lines
Weight forward floating lines for warm water. Below are some suggestions:

RIO LINES
The Clouser Fly Line for Nasties -Warm water
Rio Florida Bonefish line (has intermediate sink tip)
Rio Density Compensated 15ft Tapered Sinking Tip Fly Line

SCIENTIFIC ANGLER LINES
Ultra 4 Heavy Freshwater/Bass
Wet Tip Clear- single strain mono core

If you are comfortable with heavier lines, 200-350 grain lines made by Teeny or Scientific Anglers are also effective, however you should be able to present both the line and fly well. You should test and practice with your equipment before coming to Argentina so that you are comfortable and confident with your line and rod.

Leaders
SA Master series toothy critter wire leaders, or saltwater tapered leaders 20lb tippet.

Wire leaders
American Fishing Line, Surflon wire leader 20lb. 1x7. Wire leaders are a must.

Other necessary gear
Breathable waders and booties with wading boots
Wading belt
Polarized sunglasses
Pliers, hook sharpener, clippers.
Strong sunscreen, lip protection

 

Flies
Deer hair and feathered streamers about 4-8 inches, tied on 3/0-5/0 stainless steel hooks. Deceivers work well, but flies can be a variety of high volume streamers in colors black, purple, chartreuse, white, yellow, brown, green, red and pink. Also, saltwater poppers and divers work well.

Bait Casting Gear
Two 7-ft, medium action bait casting rods, 12-20lb line. Deep-divers to top-water hard plastic baits in a variety of colors, 3-6 inches long. Common makers are: Yo-Zuri, Heddon and Rapala. Swivels and 15-25lb wire leaders

Clothing (Temperatures - Dec 85 oF, Jan-Feb 95-100 oF, Mar 80-90 oF Apr-May 60-75 oF, Jun-Jul 45-55 oF Aug 40-50 oF, Sept 45-55 oF, Oct, 55-60 oF. Nights are 15 degrees cooler)
Warm, humid weather clothing
Sun-protective clothing
Sun and rain hat and rain gear
Windbreaker/Fleece jacket
Comfortable walking shoes, boat shoes (I.e. tennis shoes, canvas shoes or hiking boots)
Sturdy waterproof sandals are also very versatile and comfortable but tend to catch on fly line easily.
