Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is wise to purchase when traveling extensively. Fly Fishing Patagonia highly recommends all visitors purchase travel insurance. Please inquire about our specialized travel insurance policies. Although Argentina is a safe country and your hosts take every precaution necessary to ensure your well being, unexpected events do happen. Most people use travel insurance to cover travel upsets such as delayed or canceled flights, lost luggage and medical emergencies. All medications you might want or require should be brought with you. You can be further prepared by buying complete travel insurance that includes medical evacuations. Please note that we are not responsible for loss of planned activities due to late arrivals. For more information, please Email Us. Travel Documents:No immunizations or visas are required to visit Argentina; however, you are required to have a valid passport. Currency and Money:The Argentine currency is the peso, which fluctuates around 3 pesos to 1 US dollar. Your personal purchases should be made with dollars, pesos or credit cards. Currency exchange houses can be found in airports or in towns. Most of your personal purchases will be made with cash (pesos or dollars) as well as credit cards. Note that some merchants offer discounts for cash and that personal and travelers checks are not accepted by many merchants. Most banks have ATM machines. Heath Issues:There are no immunizations required for entry into Argentina. For the latest informationon health and immunization requirements worldwide, visit the Center for Disease Control web site at www.cdc.gov. Because you may be in remote locations make sure you bring any required medications and basic first aid supplies. Although your guides will have epinephrine pins in their first aid kits and are trained to use them, we advise carrying a personal epi pin if you are allergic to any kind of insect sting. Accommodations: Estancia La Pelada is a 4-bedroom, 4-star cattle and horse ranch, overlooking the Corriente River. This exclusive Spanish-Colonial style ranch home is located 30 minutes outside Esquina, Corrientes. Food: The food served will be local meats, vegetables and fruit prepared daily in traditional Argentine style. Desserts, breads, jams and pastries are all homemade. Lunch and dinner will be served with fine wines from Mendoza, Argentina. Guides: All Fly Fishing Patagonia guides grew up in the region hunting and fishing and have years of experience guiding dorado fishing on these waters. Communication: Estancia La Pelada will have internet access for guest in the near future. Access can be gained in town in internet cafes. Some cell phones also work near town. Electric current: Because of the remote location, the electricity is produced by generator and used from duck until 2 hours after sunrise. The current is 220 volt at 50 cycles and the sockets are for two round prongs or three angled flat prongs. Therefore, visitors will need a converter for 110 volt devices and plug adapters. Attire: Slacks and sport coat for Buenos Aires and Mendoza and jeans and a fleece for Corrientes. See Gear for a full list of what to bring.
