Sample Itineraries
Below are 4 overnight wilderness fishing expedition itineraries that illustrate the many combinations for our Argentina float trips.
Caleufu River Wilderness Fishing Expedition
2 nights lodging – Bariloche
3 nights, 4 days floating and fishing on the Caleufu River
Day 1
Arrive Buenos Aires, upon request our representative will greet and transfer you to the domestic airport for your flight to Bariloche. Airport pick-up, hotel check-in, tour of Bariloche, group dinner.
Day 2
At 9:00am we’ll pick you up from your Bariloche hotel and drive 2 hours to the Caleufu River to start our 3 night, 4 day Argentina float trip. Everyone will be given dry bags for their personal items. The first day the river is relatively fast with a few rapids and gorgeous views. This is a great section for dry fly fishing with most fish in the 16 inch range.
Day 3-4
The second day the river slows but the fishing picks up. Anglers should use dries and nymphs. Average fish size should increase to 17-18 inches. Large 5-10 pound browns take streamers mostly and are found in deep runs and pools. Be on the look out for Red Stag, Wild Boar, foxes and Condors, -if you can take you eyes off the water.
Day 5
On the last day, you’ll be fishing slow pools and grassy banks for some big fish either on top or with streamers. At 5:00pm we’ll take off and transfer 2.5 hours to your Bariloche hotel. Hotel check-in. Group dinner.
Day 6
Depart out of the Bariloche Airport to Buenos Aires.
**Usually this trip is extended to fish a few days out of a lodge. Inquire of options.

Wilderness Fishing Expedition Combo
1 night Fortin Chacabuco – Bariloche
3 night float on Expedition X
2 nights float on the Chimehuín River
2 night at an inn in Junín
8 nights, 7 days fishing
Day 1
Arrive Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) in Buenos Aires. Upon request, our representative will greet and transfer you 45 minutes to the domestic airport (AEP) for your flight to Bariloche (BRC). Airport pick-up, drive 10 minutes to Fortin Chacabuco Ranch. We’ll drop off bags, drive 5 minutes to the Limay River and fish until dark. Return to the ranch for only one night.
Day 2
Depart the ranch at 9:00am to begin our 4 day Expedition X float trip. We’ll give you full details about the river when you arrive.
Day 3-4
Fish, eat, drink, fish and maybe sleep.
Day 5
Fish until late afternoon. Drive to a small inn.
Day 6
After an early check out and breakfast, we’ll drive to the Chimehuín River and launch our boats for 3 days and 2 nights on this spectacular River.
Day 7
Anglers can choose between fishing a light dry on a 4 weight or casting heavy flies, searching for that legendary Chimehuín brown trout. Our 3 day wilderness expeditions will give anglers the best shots at catching one of these Patagonia trophies.
Day 8
Late afternoon our expedition will end and we’ll transfer to a hotel in Junin.
Day 9
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires.

Aluminé River Wilderness Fishing Expedition
1 nights lodging – Rahue
5 night, 6 day float on the Alumine River
1 nights lodging in Junín
7 nights, 6 days fishing
Day 1
Arrive Buenos Aires, upon request our representative will greet and transfer you to the domestic airport for your flight to San Martin We will pick you up at the airport and drive north to the small town of Rahue. Check-in, group dinner. Everyone will be given dry bags for their personal items.
Day 2
At 9:00am we’ll start our 6 day float on the Aluminé River.
Day 3-6
The Aluminé cuts through Patagonia steppe with rocky and willow lined shores. The first portion of the trip will be through canyons which quickly open to offer views of the Andes and Cordillera. The Aluminé River holds many rainbows and browns in the 20-24 inch class. Look for the big bows sipping in small pocket water along the banks. Every night our chefs will surprise you with a culinary delight.
Day 7
At 3-5:00pm we’ll take off and transfer to our hotel in Junín. Tonight we’ll have a farewell dinner.
Day 8
Depart out of the San Martin Airport to Buenos Aires.

Wilderness Expedition and Lodge Combo
1 night hotel in Bariloche
3 night Float on the Collon Cura River
4 nights at Estancia San Huberto
8 nights, 7 days fishing
Day 1
At the Buenos Aires International Airport, our representative will meet you with a private transfer to the domestic airport for your flight to Bariloche. We’ll pick you up and drive you 15 minutes to your Bariloche hotel. After a rest we’ll give you a tour of Bariloche and meet for a group dinner at our favorite restaurant.
Day 2
At 9:00am we’ll pick you up and drive 2 hours to the Collon Cura River to start our 3 night, 4 day Argentina float trip. The Collon Cura runs through a shallow valley of dry Patagonia steppe.
Day 3-4
While floating this relatively large river, anglers should use dries and nymphs, but streamers should also be fished in the deeper pools and around submerged willows. Starting in March, the Red Stags are active and constantly bugling.
Day 5
At 5:00pm we’ll exit the river where it meets the lake and drive 1 hour and 45 minutes to Estancia San Huberto. Check in.
Day 6
After breakfast we’ll fish middle Malleo River. Fishing is done by walk and wade and mostly casting upstream to rising fish. Insects hatch throughout the day and season, making the Malleo Patagonia’s superior dry fly fishing river. On most day’s we’ll return to the lodge for lunch.
Day 7
Fish the lower Malleo River and/or the tributary, Huaca Mamuil which also offers good dry fly fishing during the early-mid season.
Day 8
Fish the upper section of the Malleo River and work our way upriver towards the Tromen Lake. The river is faster here and streamers and nymphs can help entice the Malleo’s biggest browns out from behind submerged boulders.
Day 9
Departure out of San Martin Airport to Buenos Aires.
